3 Roofing Tips (to avoid rip-offs)
- Get to know the roofer:
Make sure the roofer you use is more than “just a name”. Many roofers will come to areas after a storm and go door to door to try to find business. Using someone local through a referral is a great way to find a roofer. - Get a complete written bid:
Demand a full and complete written bid. You should be able to request a copy of the contract so you know what you are agreeing to and what the roofer is responsible for. - Do not pay money up front:
It should not be necessary to pay a large deposit just to hire a roofer. You may be required to do a down payment when materials arrive and a final payment once the roof is complete.
